For Advancing Bridge Players

Common Sense Bridge 3 - Competitive Bidding

...

One of the most important qualities of good bridge players is how well they handle themselves in competitive auctions. Frequently both partnerships can make a part score contract, so you and your partner may want to compete so that you can get your optimal score. If the hand is very distributional, both sides may be able to bid and make game! When both partnerships at the bridge table are bidding, it can become a real battle.

This 4-week course is designed for players who have learned the basics of Common Sense Bridge 1 and Common Sense Bridge 2, or as a refresher for more experienced players.

Our Competitive Bidding course teaches you the tools you need in order to effectively compete in the bidding, and how to properly use them for optimal results. We will cover:

  • Preemptive bidding
  • Overcalls and advances
  • Takeout doubles and advances
  • Negative Doubles

As always, our teaching approach emphasizes logic, inferences and common sense.
