We offer private lessons, coaching and classes, both online and in person.
Private Lessons
We find this is the ideal way to allow you to learn at your own speed, and to truly absorb each bridge skill before moving on to the next. Ideally you’ll attend with your bridge partner, so we can work with you on your game as a partnership. The cost for private lessons depends upon the number of people and time involved. Private individual lessons cost $65 per hour. Discounted rates available for groups and multiple sessions.
Classes
Common Sense Bridge I
This six-week course for beginners covers the basics, in a friendly, small-group environment, whether you are interested in social or duplicate bridge. See the details of Common Sense Bridge I.
Common Sense Bridge II
This four-week course is designed for players who have learned the basics of Common Sense Bridge I, or as a refresher for more experienced players. Each class will consist of a lesson focusing on a particular aspect of declarer play and/or defense, followed by the supervised play of carefully curated hands. Common Sense Bridge III
This course will focus on the additional competitive knowledge and skills needed to improve your bridge game and successfully compete at the bridge table, and is suitable for both duplicate and social bridge players. This course focuses on improving all aspects of your bridge game: bidding, declarer play and defense. The bidding aspect of the course will focus on competitive bidding, including overcalls, takeout doubles as well as basic conventions any partnership can use to significantly improve their odds of finding the right contract (negative doubles, Stayman convention, Jacoby transfers, and Blackwood convention). We will continue to work on your declarer play and defensive skills.
Ideally, course participants will have completed both Common Sense Bridge I & II, although only Common Sense Bridge I or equivalent is required in order to take this Common Sense Bridge III.
Bridge Refresher Class
This class will refresh your understanding of the basics of bridge, and is a great review for social and duplicate players alike. It will help social bridge players sharpen their competitive edge. The class will also summarize the key changes that someone who has not played for twenty to thirty years will encounter, and explains simply and clearly what they will need to know to be comfortable in the modern game.
